Job Description

We are seeking a customer-focused Machine Inventory/Tool Room/Service Associate at our heavy equipment branch in Gulfport.  We offer competitive compensation (starting pay $13/hour+, depending on experience), great benefits, free uniforms and laundry, and specialized technical training.

The Machine Inventory/Tool Room/Service Associate is responsible for recording and maintaining all shipping, receiving, tracking and monthly inventory of the Company’s sales/rental equipment and attachments assigned to the branch.   In addition, the position is responsible to administer and maintain efficient and organized control of the tool room, build hydraulic hoses, and support the service department’s parts needs.   This is a semi-skilled position which requires working both in the shop as well as on the grounds outside the shop.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Record, monitor and maintain shipping/receiving and perpetual inventory control of the machine sales/rental equipment and attachments assigned to the branch. Complete shipping/receiving inspection reports, post and track inventory counts, and prepare outbound deliveries and accompanying documentation in accordance with company policy and all prescribed quality and safety standards.  Receive and administer the intake of all sales/rental equipment and inventory-related questions from internal customers.  Interact with external customers to coordinate machine intake and delivery.
  • Organize and maintain operations of the tool room. Therein, check-out/check-in tools, measuring devices and test kits to employees in accordance with all prescribed quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of tools issued and returned as well as a perpetual inventory of all items in and assigned to the tool room area. Locate misplaced or lost tools and equipment.
  • Fabricate customized hydraulic hoses for the service department, using bulk materials in accordance with all prescribed quality and safety standards.
  • Participate in the activities related to the parts order management process for the service department including but not limited to receiving, system posting, shelving/storing, picking/pulling, inventory control, and shipping parts and components in accordance with all prescribed quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain work area, tools, and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment.
  • Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance at all times.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of combined work experience working as a shipping/receiving, maintenance, tool room and/or facilities attendant in an industrial, manufacturing, or heavy equipment environment
  • Mechanically inclined with solid maintenance, calibration, and repair skills with a wide variety of small hand tools, measuring devices, and industrial equipment
  • Proficient verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Good problem solving skills, detail oriented, and ability to work with a high level of accuracy.
  • Solid comfort level utilizing/maintaining computerized inventory management systems and using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Good computer skills using related information system applications (ex: SIS, DBS).
  • Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment.
  • Have and maintain a driving record (MVR) which adheres to the company’s motor vehicle policy standards.
  • Ability to be forklift certified and to safely use material handling equipment and tooling and wear company required PPE (protective eyewear, gloves, footwear) during a shift assignment that could last between 8 and 10 hours.
  • Ability to work standard five-day work schedule, including daily overtime, and occasional weekend hours as necessary
