Job Description

We are seeking a passionate information-driven Data Analyst at our corporate headquarters in Flowood.  We offer competitive compensation, great benefits, and a dynamic and engaging work environment. 

The Data Analyst is responsible for compiling and maintaining high quality data and performing analysis to drive and support the Company’s marketing strategies and business goals.  The position works closely with internal stakeholders to build analytical capability and present insights in easy-to-understand reports and data visualizations.  In addition, the position is accountable to execute lead generation and marketing funnel reporting, manage third party data vendor relationships, support the development and execution of corporate marketing campaigns, and prepare/deliver marketing data-related system training to end users.  The position reports to the Manager, Marketing.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Perform data analysis and interpretation utilizing a wide range of analytic tools to develop business and customer insights for the Company’s marketing programs and campaigns. Provide descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive data analysis utilizing a systematic process of gathering, cleaning, evaluating, and modeling data to support decision-making.  Maintain a current and dynamic understanding of key business metrics and recommend improvements and enhancements to managerial reporting platforms.
  • Manage, organize, and generate timely, accurate reporting and provide insights and recommendations to management (taking the form of standard and ad hoc reports, dashboards, models, info-graphics, customer databases, and/or data summaries as requested). Present data to management in the form of clear, succinct, and easy to understand reports and visualizations as well as in-person presentations.
  • Support the Company’s lead generation and marketing funnels activities. Monitor and analyze customer purchase/transaction patterns to surface customer trends and demand generation opportunities by using statistics/predictive modeling. Recommend new market funnels, prepare related reporting and build/maintain lead generation dashboards.
  • Serve as lead administrator for the Company’s data analysis systems, customer relationship management (CRM) system (Salesforce), and related software tools. Recommend and coordinate approved programming enhancements and/or modifications. Present and train internal end users as appropriate on enhancements to CRM. Ensure accuracy and data integrity of customer information residing on the Company’s information systems.   Import and/or input data from marketing channels into CRM and/or company management system as appropriate.
  • Manage relationships with the Company’s third party marketing data vendors to ensure data integrity, optimal performance, cost control, and risk mitigation.
  • Support the development and dynamic monitoring of the Company’s marketing campaigns. Therein, recommend improvements and assist with customer segmentation for targeted promotions. Generate timely, accurate customer/prospect lists for direct mail, email, and salesperson calls.  Update customer information changes in systems as appropriate.  Monitor campaign performance, provide regular reporting throughout, and generate campaign success summary at conclusion.  Assist with registration and recordkeeping as necessary and monitor the Company’s performance in Caterpillar national campaigns. Monitor Google Adwords and Reach Local Live Chat performance and provide regular reporting with recommendations.
  • Support and participate in a variety of marketing department and/or corporate activities/events as needed.  Provide training and support for management and salespeople on marketing systems (Salesforce). Create related training and performance support materials.  Assist as appropriate with the development of marketing automation.  Champion the department’s efforts to continually maximize the quality and quantity of the Company’s customer/prospect email database.  Work with customer satisfaction surveys to help determine needed operational changes.

Job Requirements

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in marketing, business, mathematics, finance or a related field and/or equivalent education PLUS at least 5 years of progressive work experience with assignments involving heavy data analytics, marketing research or a related field is required. 
  • Strong computer skills and high comfort level using a wide range of software tools to perform data analysis, dashboard creation and reporting including Microsoft SQL, DBS, and Cognos to model data for analysis and Microsoft Power BI and/or Tableau for creating data visualizations.
  • Strong technical skills utilizing Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Access), marketing automation platforms, customer relationship management systems (Salesforce), and tools for marketing and design.
  • Strong presentation skills, experience and comfort with data analysis, large datasets, and the ability to translate analytics into reports and dashboards. Proven skills in producing easy-to-understand reports summarizing data analysis findings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills, able to work well under deadlines in a changing environment and perform multiple tasks effectively and concurrently.
