Job Description

We are seeking an Accounting Manager at our corporate headquarters in Flowood to support the company’s day-to-day accounting transaction operations, which include General Accounting, Tax and Accounts Payable and Receivable.   This position will be hands on and interact with various operational departments to ensure proper accounting treatment, execution of accounting functions, and reporting of results.  As a manager in the department, position will be accountable to actively support process improvement and refinement of accounting operations.  Position reports to the Assistant Controller.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the collection, reconciliation, review, and closing activities related to month, quarter, and year-end financial reporting, the preparation of accruals, schedules and statements, and the submission of periodic and ad-hoc financial reporting packages.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor related policies and procedures necessary for mitigating risk, enhancing the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensuring that reported results are GAAP compliant.
  • Assist in overseeing and coordinating workflow within the accounting department.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor assigned accounting staff employees.
  • Coordinate and manage audits and reviews with the Company’s external auditors.
  • Assist with preparation, collection and consolidation of departmental budgets during annual budget and periodic forecasting cycles.
  • Work closely with the Corporate Controller on preparation and implementation of accounting-related systems, plans, and projects.
  • Serve as a technical accounting resource, providing guidance or performing research related to GAAP.

Job Requirements

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Master’s level degree in accounting with current Mississippi CPA license plus 3-5 years professional accounting experience in public accounting and or a retail/distribution corporate environment required. Minimum 3 years people management experience required.
  • High comfort level and proficiency with ERP systems, analytical applications, and MS Excel.
  • Refined written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and management and mentor those who report through the position.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task, prioritize work load, and delegate in a fast-paced, detail -oriented and high-volume transaction environment.
