Job Requirements of Utility/FacilityTechnician-HBG:
•High school diploma or GED equivalent plus at least 2 years previous work experience in manufacturing, construction, oil field, heavy machinery shops, or similar experience found in these industries
•Proficient in the use of small tools, equipment, and supplies used to clean, organize, paint, and maintain shop facilities including but not limited to: floor / yard sweepers, floor scrubbers, brooms, mops, shop vacuums, paint spray guns, paint brushes, paint rollers, liquid sump vacuums, grinders, sanders, pressure washers, tape measures, and various tools / supplies used to clean / detail machinery cabs
•Must be forklift certified and have the ability to safely use material handling equipment to transport small tools, equipment, supplies, pallets and trash / metal dumpsters
•Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills used in supporting shop technicians
•Good problem solving skills, detail oriented, and ability to work with a high level of accuracy
•Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations
•Ability to work independently in a dynamic fast paced service environment
•Ability to work standard five-day work schedule, including daily overtime, and occasional weekend hours as necessary

Utility/FacilityTechnician-HBG
Puckett Machinery Company is the Caterpillar® heavy equipment, rental services, and power systems dealer for central and southern Mississippi. As the industry leader in our territory with 15 locations, helping our customers succeed is our number one priority. We are seeking a customer-focused Utility/Facility Technician at our service department in Hattiesburg.
The Utility/Facility Technician is responsible for performing various maintenance/cleaning, organizing, painting, and contamination control tasks in each service shop as well as the heavy machinery yard. This position will also be responsible for moving equipment to/from the shop, wash rack, and yard. This position will often require working hours in addition to the normal work schedule and will periodically be required to work flexible schedules to complete tasks while the shop is down. This is a semi-skilled position which requires working both in the shop as well as on the grounds outside the shop. This position reports to the Service Supervisor.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Monitor & maintain shop tool storage areas daily for proper placement and storage of shop utilized jacks, jack stands, belly pan jacks, brooms, shovels, grease carts, shop fans, mop buckets, ladders, step-ladders, oil suction machines, oil drain-pans, cab cleaning carts, battery chargers, jump-start battery carts, welding equipment, stencil carts, lifting chains, forklifts, floor/yard sweepers, etc.
- Maintain perpetual reporting of the usage and inventory level of all bulk oil storage tanks. Take and log oil samples as needed. Monitor and maintain the bulk oil storage area.
- Monitor and maintain the disassembled parts area & outside the shop bay doors. Assist the Tool Room/Facilities Coordinator in maintaining wash bays, parts washers, wash rack, shop compressors, and other various shop equipment.
- Empty shop trash and metal dumpsters into outside large roll-off containers daily. Empty oil-drain pans into central waste oil tanks. De-clutter, sweep, mop and clean service bays.
- Inspect and maintain fluid levels in fork trucks and floor/yard sweepers on a daily basis. Perform basic preventive maintenance as necessary. Operate floor sweeper and yard sweeper as needed.
- Perform facility-related safety audits per prescribed processes, record and report findings.
- Paint lines and stencils on shop floor to maintain designated placement and identification for all shop tools, equipment, and safety items.
- Perform detailed cleaning on machines in the shop to remove mud and debris after machine disassembly.
- Transfer machinery to/from the shop, wash rack, and yard areas.
- Assist service technicians with heavy/repetitive lifting and material handling as indicated. Assist service technicians in the disassembly, assembly, and installation of heavy equipment components and parts. Write up and disposition parts returns for technicians.
- Keep supervisor regularly apprised of status of assigned tasks.
- Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance at all times.
