Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Associate or higher level college degree from accredited institution in a management, HR, engineering, or equivalent discipline required.
CSP certification preferred. - Minimum 6-8 years of work experience in an environmental health and safety generalist role, preferably in a construction or industrial environment involving heavy equipment and/or commercial transportation.
- Must have completed the OSHA 30 hour program for the general AND construction industry and also be a currently certified trainer for forklift operations and CPR/first aid.
- Fully knowledgeable of all federal DOT regulations (FMCSA) as well as all state and local DOT regulations.
- Proficiency with the use of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and mobile devices to track and maintain all aspects of the company’s safety operations.
- Refined written, verbal, presentation/training, and interpersonal communication skills.
- A refined “hands on” leadership style which is motivating and optimizes team effectiveness.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and management and employees.
- Ability to address and handle conflict resolution in a diplomatic and professional manner and with consistent application of company policy;
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize work load, and effectively execute in a dynamic, detail and deadline oriented environment.
- Must have and maintain a driving record (MVR) which adheres to the company’s motor vehicle policy standards.
Other Job Requirements:
- Ability to travel 50% of the time for intrastate day travel and 35% of the time for overnight and out of state travel.

Corporate Safety Manager-FLW

We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Corporate Safety Manager based at our corporate headquarters in Flowood. We offer competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and use of a company vehicle.
The Corporate Safety Manager is responsible for monitoring a broad range of environmental and safety conditions related to the Company’s facilities, equipment, and human assets. Therein, the position administers and maintains the Company’s compliance with related federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations, facilitates the training, education, and promotion of safety to employees, and coordinates the development and execution of a comprehensive strategy to safeguard company resources. This is a mid-level corporate position that reports to the Director of Talent.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate/conduct the company’s facility and equipment safety inspections. Execute random and announced periodic facility branch inspections and collaborate with branch management/safety officers to resolve deficiencies; maintain related scorecards. Coordinate annual commercial vehicle inspections to ensure DOT compliance. Coordinate annual inspections of the company’s fixed and mobile cranes, chains and slings, and fire extinguishers.
- Support and facilitate the Company’s training, education, and perpetual promotion of safety to its employees. Coordinate and/or deliver a comprehensive set of education and training content and programs to include new hires and supervisors, safety officers and mentors, DOT commercial and passenger vehicle drivers, forklift operators, MSHA miners, and first aid. Develop content for branch safety meetings and briefings and related safety awareness materials and messaging.
- Maintain vigilant corporate monitoring and compliance with all related federal, state, and local environmental health and safety regulations (OSHA, MSHA, EPA, DEQ, DOT, etc.). Serve as the company’s designated representative with regulatory agencies in the event of an inquiry or notice of violation to ensure that all issues have been appropriately communicated and/or reported and that any violations have been corrected. At the facility level, ensure strict compliance with all company safety policies and procedures related to lock out/tag out, PPE, electrical maintenance, fall protection, grinding, master switch turn off, as well as all Hazmat (MSDS) standards (identifying, labeling, and communication). Maintain compliance with the Company’s customers’ safety requirements (PPE, training, screening, insurance) for employees performing work on customer jobsites.
- Monitor the company’s waste disposal process and performance of related vendors as well as wastewater disposal reporting to ensure compliance with federal and state environmental regulations. Coordinate the process for certifying the company’s facility sites with the state environmental quality bureau.
- Administratively prepare and maintain a wide variety of data and reporting related to the Company’s environmental health and safety programs. Conduct and compile accident/incident/near miss investigations, recommend corrective actions. Participate in the preparation of the company’s annual safety plan and the corporate safety manual including related policies and procedures. Participate in the response to vendor and agency requests for company statistical and compliance information. Prepare periodic executive safety meetings and distribution of training rosters for forklift, aerial platform, and MSHA new/refresher training. Partner with HR department who maintains perpetual accident/injury data for OSHA logs, quarterly branch safety reports, MSHA filings, and tracking/recertifying driver’s licenses, MVR, and medical certificates for commercial drivers.
- Administer the Company’s corporate safety and environmental strategic plan. Research and recommend initiatives, plans, and actions for implementation that will effectively balance cost/benefit or risk/reward factors without compromising safety. Partner with branch safety leaders to develop and periodically review progress/refine annual safety action plans.
- Cultivate and maintain positive and effective working relationships with the company’s employees, management, vendors and insurance/risk management partners to drive the highest level of integrity, safety engagement, and compliance.
- Coordinate the recruitment and first aid/CPR training of employee volunteer first responders. Manage the installation, stocking, and readiness of facility first aid and eye wash stations. Prepare and maintain adherence to the Company’s emergency preparedness plans at each location.
