Director HR Operations-FLW

We are seeking a seasoned Director of HR Operations based on premises at our corporate headquarters in Flowood. We offer competitive compensation, excellent benefits, and a legendary family culture.

The Director, HR Operations is responsible for leading the development and administration of and providing subject matter expertise and counsel on a broad range of human resource functions including employment, compensation, workplace policy, employee relations, payroll and benefit plan operations, and compliance. This is a senior corporate management position that reports to the Director, Talent and the President.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the function of the Senior HR Analyst, HR Manager, Payroll Manager, and HR Administrator to ensure that all HR operations responsibilities are executed at a consistently high level of accuracy, timeliness, and in compliance with all related regulatory requirements. Hire, train and evaluate performance; plan and facilitate employee training and development to ensure the team develops the necessary skills to achieve maximum results and professional growth. Set the example by leading with refined discretion, professionalism, and integrity.
  • Provide senior level counsel to management in the development and administration of effective and compliant employment processes with respect to applicant tracking, hiring/onboarding and termination, compensation, and performance management.
  • Provide senior level counsel to management in the development, interpretation, and administration of workplace policy and practices. Direct the research, preparation, and training of management and employees on new/updated policy. Direct and provide senior level counsel on the preparation and facilitation of compliant and effective disciplinary actions and resolution of employee relations matters. Lead and participate in the execution of internal employee investigations as it pertains to workplace policy. Coach and counsel managers regarding performance management and progressive discipline.
  • Direct and oversee the evaluation, procurement, and management of the Company’s welfare and retirement benefit plans and programs. Oversee the execution of all benefit plan related renewals, fiscal forecasting and planning activities. Oversee and facilitate the preparation and delivery of a wide variety of written and presentation material to support related enrollment events and employee benefit education. Oversee the administration of internal processes to ensure that all employees receive timely and effective resolution to benefit questions and claims issues.
  • Direct and oversee the development and administration of the Company’s HR, benefits, and payroll related information systems. Oversee the processing of the Company’s payrolls to ensure all transactions and related reporting and funding are timely and precisely remitted to tax authorities, benefit vendors, and internal accounting. Evaluate and oversee the implementation of payroll/HRIS system upgrades and changes.
  • Direct and manage the administration of HR data systems to ensure the Company’s compliance with all regulatory requirements related to OSHA/MSHA, EPA, DOT, EEO, ERISA, FML, FLSA, OFCCP, HIPAA. Maintain the Company’s Affirmative Action Plans. Oversee the administration of all record retention, 401k plan nondiscrimination testing/audits, work comp benefit audits, and all other regulatory audits that may arise. Oversee the preparation of all required benefit plan disclosures and filings with DOL, IRS, ERISA (Form 5500, etc).
  • Direct the administration of the Company’s worker compensation program to ensure that all worker injuries are timely reported, and claims are tracked and settled appropriately. Oversee activities related to employee leaves of absence including FMLA entitlement and communication, disability benefit claims filing, and related interface between providers, carriers, and the employee. Partner with CFO to provide senior level counsel in the negotiation and settlement of complex high dollar claims to ensure effective outcomes for all parties.
  • Facilitate activities to improve coordination and communication between all departments and branches across the company. Own and cultivate positive relationships with the company’s HR-related providers, vendors and carriers; conduct pricing and performance reviews to identify service improvement opportunities and manage costs.

Job Requirements:

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited institution in management, HR, or equivalent discipline required.
    SHRM-CP, PHR, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Minimum 10-15 years corporate level management experience in Human Resources that includes seasoned practice and knowledge of employment, compensation, workplace policy, employee relations, payroll and employee benefit plan operations, and compliance.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills as well as seasoned technical proficiency with HR management systems.
  • Seasoned proficiency with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) as well as HRIS and ATS applications.
  • Exceptional writing, verbal, analytical, and presentation skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, judgment, and discretion to maintain the highly confidential nature of human resources work.
  • A refined “hands on” leadership style which is motivating and optimizes team effectiveness.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and management and mentor those who report through the position.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts with professionalism and consistent application of company policy.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload, and effectively delegate in a fast-paced, detail and deadline-oriented environment.
