Job Requirements of Inventory Control Analyst:
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a management information systems, data analytics, statistics, logistics, or business administration discipline preferred.
Associate’s degree or equivalent with significant, relevant experience will be considered. - Expert level experience with Microsoft Office Excel required, to include quantifiable skill in working with complicated formulas, Pivot Tables, and basic VBA manipulation.
- Experience with inventory control measures, supply chain, dealer management information systems (DBS), and/or legacy AS400 systems preferred, but not required.
- Familiarity with reading/modifying SQL, database structure, and basic programming language logic comprehension, Power BI or comparable systems highly desired.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff and management.
- Refined interpersonal communication skills (e.g., written, verbal, analytical, negotiation and cross-departmental).
- Ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize workload, and rapidly change focus and direction in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Superior problem-solving skills, proactive mindset, and ability to work with an impeccable level of accuracy.

Inventory Control Analyst
Puckett Machinery Company is the Caterpillar® heavy equipment, rental services, and power systems dealer for central and southern Mississippi. As the industry leader in our territory with 15 locations, helping our customers succeed is our number one priority.
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Inventory Control Analyst at our corporate headquarters in Flowood, MS. This position reports to the Parts Administrative Support Manager. It is responsible to provide corporate-wide oversight and administration of inventory control activities related to all OEM and allied parts, to ensure appropriate stocking levels are consistently maintained, inventory cycle turns are optimized, and inventory integrity is maintained at all times.
The ideal candidate should possess a strong analytical approach to problem solving with quantifiable success in a variety of data analytics endeavors, a deep sense of urgency, and a high level of attention to detail. Additionally, this person should be eager to contribute as a driving force in the Company’s adoption and integration of cutting-edge analytics tools to meet the needs of an ever-evolving, data-driven corporate landscape.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities:
- Analyze, monitor, and anticipate/requisition Caterpillar parts inventory to maximize availability for parts counter sales as well as service department repair operations occurring at all branch locations. Maintain and prepare a wide array of parts availability reports to remain current on trends that may influence inventory demand.
- Establish/maintain inventory system parameters. Determine dispositions for surplus, non-moving and /or non-returnable inventory. Coordinate all bulk purchases and surplus returns. Add non-stock items to inventory according to established ordering policies. Monitor/oversee consigned inventory.
- Assist the Technical Services department in determining parts inventory needs for new product introductions, major product recalls, and major service letter directives from Caterpillar. Provide parts inventory subject matter expertise support to branch personnel as needed.
- Manage and maintain vendor relationships with the company’s logistics vendor utilized for intracompany parts shipping. Monitor OEM parts supplier performance (completeness, timeliness, accuracy, cost, and quality)
- Lead in various administrative tasks, such as company-wide annual physical parts inventory facilitation, periodic surplus returns, vendor invoice processing, and Caterpillar metric reporting (both incoming and outgoing). Track ongoing completion progress and compile after-action review reporting as designated by senior management.
- Perform basic data analysis and interpretation to develop business insights for the company’s product support operations.
- Maintain positive working relationships and effective communication with all internal and external customers and Caterpillar personnel.
