Job Requirements of Petroleum Parts Specialist-Jackson:
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Minimum 4-6 years of combined work experience as a retail parts counter salesman and/or warehouse associate in a parts sales and service shop environment.
- Good technical knowledge of Caterpillar and allied heavy equipment (mechanical systems, diesel engines/engine failures, electrical and hydraulic systems).
- Ability to read and comprehend computer-based schematics, specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins, safety manuals, and other related publications.
- Refined verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Must have and maintain a driving record (MVR) which adheres to the company’s motor vehicle policy standards.
- Good problem solving skills, detail oriented, and ability to work with a high level of accuracy.
- Good computer skills using related information system applications (ex: SIS, DBS)
- Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word).
- Ability to perform duties with a sense of urgency, exceeding customer expectations.
- Ability to work in a dynamic fast paced service environment.
- Ability to work standard five-day work schedule, including daily overtime, and occasional weekend hours as necessary.

Petroleum Parts Specialist-Jackson
Puckett Machinery Company is the Caterpillar® heavy equipment, rental services, and power systems dealer for central and southern Mississippi. As the industry leader in our territory with 15 locations, helping our customers succeed is our number one priority.
We are seeking a dynamic Petroleum Parts Specialist based at our heavy equipment branch in Jackson, MS (Hwy. 80). We offer competitive hourly compensation, great benefits, and specialized technical training.
The Petroleum Parts Specialist is accountable to provide dedicated parts fulfillment support to the Company’s strategic parts customers as it pertains to executing requisitions, tracking and expediting back orders, preparing bid quotes, and preparing orders for shipment. The position reports to the Parts Distribution Manager.
Essential Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities:
- Participate in all functions related to the parts order management process including but not limited to receiving, system posting, shelving/storing, picking/pulling, and shipping parts and components in accordance with all prescribed quality and safety standards.
- Serve as the primary point of contact with and provide dedicated fulfillment support to the Company’s strategic parts customers in all functions related to the processing of requisitions, tracking and expediting back orders, preparing bid quotes, and administratively preparing orders for shipment in accordance with all prescribed customer service level agreements (SLAs) as well as all quality and safety standards.
- Participate in all retail sales functions including but not limited to preparing quotes for parts and service, determining parts availability, posting and executing orders, returns/exchanges, and backorders, cross selling and following up on leads, investigating and resolving customer issues and complaints.
- Participate in rotational on-call support to the corporate branch for after hours and weekend periods.
- Keep up to date with developments in parts, tooling, and systems.
- Operate ladder and material handling equipment (i.e. forklift and pallet jack) to pull and transfer parts and components to designated areas for customer delivery or warehouse stocking in accordance with all prescribed safety standards.
- Maintain a professional and proper personal appearance at all times.
- Maintain positive working relationships and effective communication with all internal and external customers.
